GeoHarvest 1.0 (bèta) Configuration Tutorial - Page 2 of 4

Downloading Images
The Image Download tab should be configured as shown below with 'Detect cards and cameras' unchecked.

The most important GeoHarvest setting is the Time Zone marked in red. This value will match the Local Time of your camera to UTC. UTC is the time in Greenwich, Great Brittany (also called GMT), that is used by most GPS receivers. Add one hour if Daylight Save is active. The 'Camera Time' shown here should match the live time on your camera, assuming the computer time is correct.

The other crucial setting is the 'Primary destination'. This is the folder where GeoHarvest will put the images it downloads from the flash card.

When all is set put the flash card in a reader or connect the camera, wait a few seconds for the computer to find the drive, hit the 'Download Images Now' button and browse to the drive as shown below, then hit 'OK'.

The settings window will disappear and a progress bar will pop up. If you minimize the progress bar the program will remember that and keep the bar minimized during future runs. To show the progress bar again click the GeoHarvest button on the task bar.

When download is finished the settings window pops up again. If you look at the System tab the amount of downloaded images should be increased.

The Images in Memory
The program puts its data in a subfolder of the application folder.

In the folder 'Database1' you should find a file named like '00000001.ghi'. This file contains the image names of the just downloaded images and the settings you defined in the program earlier. If you like to you can open the file with Notepad, for it's just a plain old text file with a different extension. Make sure not to edit the file.

Keep the Explorer window open as we'll need it on the next page.
