GeoHarvest 1.0 (bèta) Configuration Tutorial - Page 4 of 4
GeoTagging
The System tab should be configured as shown below with 'GeoTag images automatically' unchecked.

When you now invoke the GeoTagging routine by clicking 'GeoTag Images Now' the program will first look in the 'TrackInput' directory for files and read them as the type you specified on the 'Track Download' tab discussed on the previous page. GeoHarvest will create it's own geo data files from the tracks it finds inside the files from the GPS. These files have te extension .ght and reside in the 'Database1' folder next to the .ghi files from the images. They are structured for quick searching of a specific time/position pair. The conversion to .ght files takes only a short while.

Immediately after this conversion GeoHarvest starts the actual GeoTagging and shows the progress bar.

When this routine is finished GeoHarvest 'forgets' (deletes) data from Memory that is older than specified in the Memory group box on the 'System' tab and the end of the total cycle is reached.
However, without the .ght files GeoHarvest cannot perform GeoTagging. So if the conversion did not go well (or when there's just nothing to do for the program) the progress bar will disappear immediately and the settings window will pop up again.
Possible errors if there are no .ght files in the folder 'Database1' after you ran the GeoTagging routine:
- there is no valid track in the GPS file (maybe only waypoints)
- you did not specify the right 'Input Type' for the Track file on the 'Track Download' tab
- the file is not compatible
- the tracks are older in days than is specified in 'Forget data older than (days):' on the 'System' tab. The images in the .ghi files are forgotten x days after they were downloaded, the tracks in the .ght files are forgotten x days after the latest date in the track - yes, this is bèta software. This problem might turn up if you test with Track files that are older than the default setting of '7' days. To solve it change the value for 'Forget data older than (days):' on the 'System' tab to something like '3650' days (ten years). Note that if the .ght files have indeed been deleted they were still used for this one GeoTagging run.
If all went well you should be rewarded by the percentage of your GeoHarvest when the Settings window pops up at the end of the run.

After completion of this configuration tutorial you're ready to look at the Usage Examples.
