GeoHarvest 1.0 (bèta) Usage Example 1
I made GeoHarvest with a goal in mind: Totally worry-free GeoTagging. I want to insert my flash card, hit 'OK' once and leave everything else to the computer. This is not only very convienient but will also prevent human mistakes. Here is how to set it up:
Image Download

If you check 'Detect cards and cameras' the program will scan inserted removable drives (not DVD) for files with 'Download extensions'. In practice, when you insert the card a folder browser dialog pops up and you just hit 'OK'.
'GeoTag downloaded images' can be unchecked if you want to import images from a camera that was photographing at a different location from your GPS. 'Write camera correction to images' is unchecked, for at this moment it also affects the backup. I want to keep the backup of my images untouched.
Track Download

When 'Download Track file automatically' is checked GeoHarvest will look if a newly connected removable drive (not DVD) has the listed label and, if present, copy the listed track file to the 'TrackInput' folder that was discussed in the Configuration Tutorial.
I 'user copy' the Track file from the GPS to the backup folder, that contains the original and untouched images. If disaster strikes I have the original images and the original track files together in the backup folder to generate a new set of GeoTagged images.
System

I set the 'Forget data older than (days):' value to 30 days, so I can forget to connect my GPS for several weeks. 'GeoTag images automatically' will invoke the GeoTag routine after either Image or Track download is finished.
'Skip GeoTagging if image has Geo data' is mainly for people using an on-camera GPS unit (that will GeoTag images while taking the photographs), but still want to use the tracklog to GeoTag the images from a second camera.
Result
Finally my goal is reached. I put a flashcard in my reader, the dialog pops up, I hit 'OK', everything disappears and a while later the job is done. I connect the GPS to the computer on a regular basis to work with maps anyway. If I need GeoTags quickly I connect the GPS immediately. There's no constant 'pressure' to remember 'I have to GeoTag when I come home, or my track log might be lost'. All I basically have to do other than before I was GeoTagging is to make sure the Camera Time is set very accurately when I go out the door.
